I have been banished. We rented Kill Bill Volume I tonight. I despise blood and gore and have nightmares when I see it. Well, the opening scene damn near made me mess my drawers. I panicked and am now going to my comfy little bed, with my soft and furry kitten, to read a nice little book. Mark is going to continue watching because he’s a big boy, but I obviously am a major panty waist and I don’t care.
Spy Kids is on later, and I may just watch that. That’s more my speed.
Just call me Little Miss Wimpy Bimpy.

School is out! nanner, nanner, nanner, nanner! I don’t have to be back till August 16th. ROCK ON!!!!!!!!!

It’s officially summer in our house!

Jam packed day for me. I had a 10:00 final. Then I have a noon final. A 2:00 meeting, Graduation rehearsal at 4:00, then a 4:30 meeting, and dinner reservations at 7:00. But it’s almost over.

I fell right asleep last night. I barely had the covers pulled up before I was out, and I’m yawning like crazy today. I must still be tired.

I’ve also been breaking out in hives almost daily for the past few weeks. How strange is that? They are either on my hands, feet, or legs. They itch and sometimes get pretty big, but they don’t cover any one large area. I took some Benadryl, but that kicks my butt. I usually just put on some hydrocortisone lotion and refrain from itching. I don’t have any new soaps or anything – Mark thinks it’s stress. If it keeps up I may go see a Dr. – I hope it’s not stress. I like to think I can handle stress pretty well. I had a big ole patch of them developing on my calf this morning, but they’re all gone now. In the middle of the night I woke up because my toes were starting to swell up and stuff. Why do I have such freaky things wrong with me??

You are reading the blog of our college’s Distinguished Professor of the Year! Yup, that’s me alright. Boy was I surprised. We have a gathering at the end of the year to honor faculty and staff and I was shocked and happy. I got a huge plaque and $100. Incentive for hard work, huh? Then a few of us went out for celebration drinks. Mark drank much more than I did. I ended up driving us home. He was tipsy. We went for pizza afterwards and some of his students were working and they were laughing at him. He had a little hangover this morning, but he’s good now.

Tomorrow I have two finals – one in my Acting III class, and one in my Shakespeare class. Then I have two meetings in the afternoon along with graduation rehearsal. It’s gonna be a busy Thursday for me.

I am the Professor of the Year (POTY) – at least that’s what Mark keeps calling me – his poty!! ha-ha!

It’s finals week! Rock on!

We went to a lovely Italian place last night for Mark’s bday. We will definitely go back there again. A co-worker mentioned once that she went there and really enjoyed it. So, we decided to check it out. It’s in a simple little storefront place. But once you get inside it’s decorated like little Italy. Great music, smells, atmosphere – everything. We had Asiago stuffed olives that were breaded and fried with marinara sauce for an appetizer. The salads were nothing to rave about. The breadsticks were delish! The dipping olive oil was flavored with rosemary and thyme and was fabulous. I ordered the chicken Parmesan – I adored it. And Mark got the spaghetti with sausage meat balls. He said he wouldn’t get his again – it was a little too plain for his liking. He wanted the meatballs to be spicier. For desert we shared a 7- layer chocolate cake. The frostings and the mousses on it were wonderful, but the cake itself was a little dry. I had their house coffee – smooth, and Mark ordered a caramel cappucino – very rich. It was a wonderful birthday dinner for him.

After dinner we went to the hospital because a co-worker/friend was working on a tree house for his child this past Sunday, and his chainsaw slipped. He cut through the back of his left heel – tendons and everything. He’s doing fine physically right now, but it’s going to be a long haul for him and he’s a very active man. Plus, he’s in the middle of a divorce and is very depressed now – I can’t blame him. We’re gonna try to help as much as possible because once he’s released he’ll be in a wheelchair and I’m not sure how he’s gonna get along at home. He lives about 5 blocks from us, so we can swing over there and help him. Poor guy. It made me happy for my health and happier for my wonderful marriage.

I need to remember never to take anything for granted!

So, like I said, our home PC has been crazy. We were hijacked. Boo-hoo. I knew it happened while I was on the computer, but couldn’t remember where I was. I was on the phone with my mom and not paying attention and had a zillion windows open when all hell broke loose. Well, we’ve figured it out. Actually, a fellow blogger was having the same problems and I emailed her about it. Turns out I went where she went. But anyway, things are good now. That is why I haven’t been blogging much lately. I wanted to only get online at work and not at home. But now I feel much better about everything.

Friday we closed Mark’s show. Then we went out for a late dinner – try 10:00. We know the bartender at this place, and her daughter and her hubby (they’re our age) were in town and sitting at the bar. So, we visited with them. Needless to say, it was a late evening. We each had a couple beers and some steak. Yummy.

Saturday we slept in and went to lunch at our favorite coffee shop. We knew people there too. So we visited and stayed there longer than anticipated. Saturday night was our big outting. The college has this annual fundraiser where they have a live auction and a silent auction to raise scholarship money. They usually rake in about 40,000 – 50,000 that night. It’s $25 per person with an open bar and a yummy buffet. Mark and I always have fun. It started at 4:30 and I promptly started tilting back vodka tonics. Mark stuck to beer. By 6 – I was drinking straight vodka and trying to kung fu with people. That’s when my friend drug me through the food line and forced me to eat and drink some water. Mark had stopped drinking by this time because he was scared he was going to have to babysit me all night. But, my friend took over and I was just fine after that. We bought some fun stuff at great deals! I got a new CD walkman player. We already have one, but we end up fighting over it, so now we can both listen. We got a new cast iron skillet. I’ve always wanted one and am looking forward to seasoning it and using it this summer. We also got a cool pottery piece that a student of Mark’s made. It’s a vase, and we’re happy that we got it because she’s graduating and it’ll be nice to remember her by. Then I got a tea for one teapot. Not like the one in the picture, but it’s basically the same. Then – the best part of all!!! Mark got me some flying lessons!!!!!!!! Yes, flying in a plane!! How freakin’ cool is that?? I knew it was going to be on the auction block, but just assumed they would be way too much money (even for a good cause). But – they didn’t go for very much at all and Mark knew I thought that would be super cool. So I got it! I won’t be certified or anything – they’re not lessons to get a license or anything. If I want to continue I can and then I’ll be able to be a real pilot. But I think I just wanna take the lessons and have fun. What the hell would I do with my pilot’s license anyway? But this is going to be soooo cool. I feel like it’s a once in a lifetime thing. I can’t wait!

Then on Sunday we got new phones! Our contract was up and we got new ones. This is my phone:

It’s from Kyocera.

And this is Mark’s:

It’s a camera phone from Audiovox.

We’ve only had Nokia phones before, so we’ll see how it goes. Our service is with
US Cellular and we’ve always been pleased with them.

So, we continued our day with new phones to the bookstore and for a lunch at a new Mexican place – yummy. We stuffed ourselves so much we didn’t even have dinner. I went to bed early because I was tired.

Today is Mark’s birthday, so we are planning to go to this new Italian place for his bday dinner tonight. Then I don’t know what else we’re gonna do. He got a new watch, his new phone (over $200 for a phone?!?!), and some stuff for his tool kit. He’s pretty happy. So, I am probably going to leave work early and get him a cake and some stuff to decorate the house with before he gets home. Won’t that be fun!!

Ok, sorry so long, but I had some catching up to do!

Our home PC is still messed up. Mark worked on it till 1:30 last night. We’ll have to wait till we get home tonight to see if it’s any better. Hopefully.

I’m thankful it’s Friday. That means next week is finals week! I have lots of grading to between now and then. I have journals and stuff along with final making and stuff. Plus, some papers to grade over the weekend.

Today has been kind of lazy already, and I’m sure it will continue to be that way.

Ok, still swamped, gotta go!

I think Mark fixed our PC last night. I have no idea what happened, but something nasty go in us – my fault. I can’t figure out where I was when it happened. Tonight is Mark’s play – opening night. I am excited for him. He has been majorly stressed AND his birthday is Monday, so he hasn’t had much time to even think about celebrating. Poor baby. He is sad and so ready for the summer to be here. I can’t wait to have him all to myself. I want him to relax so much he finally wanders around the house and says he’s bored. That will make me happy.

I received my recent tea order in the mail yesterday. I need to get it all wrapped up and sent out within the next few weeks. I am still swimming in finals though. My head is full of things to do. I need to finish up here before I start having fun with home stuff.

Sorry, so short – I can’t help it. Swamped!

Ok, it’s time for my iced tea report. I made my first batch tonight in my new iced tea maker. I was pretty skeptical. I had a hard time believing that I could have COLD iced tea in 10 minutes. It’s basically set up like a regular coffee maker. You pour in the water, add tea to the basket, put ice in the pitcher and turn it on. It brews it up in 10 minutes. It’s steaming and everything so I figured when it was done I would still have to wait a little bit to have COLD tea. As soon as the cycle stopped I poured a glass – it was ice cold. Not like warmish with ice cubes in it, but ice cold. In 10 minutes flat. I was pleased. I did find out that I need to add more than they recommend because I need it a little bit stronger. I used regular tea and 1/3 of some lemony gunpowder tea from Harney and Sons. It is really good. Just a hint of lemon. I’m very pleased with my purchase.

Our computer has been odd tonight. I have run spywear twice and it still is saying there is stuff there that shouldn’t be. I will wait till Mark gets home and get that taken care of. Hopefully he can figure it out. I had planned on doing homework tonight, but not with our PC acting the way it is…

I’m off to bed to continue reading.
