Today is the first day of school. I actually overslept by about 20 minutes. Oh well – not quite ready to get up so early. I brought some oatmeal to eat at my desk since I was running late. Then I’m gonna scarf down some raisins later because I have back to back classes till 12:30 – no break! I will always have to pack a snack or something, otherwise I’ll be raiding the machines.

I don’t watch lots of TV – in fact – it can go days without ever being turned on at our house – but we are both addicted to “The Real World”. Last night was the season premiere. We were all pumped. I like it – especially Frankie – the girl from KC (perhaps I like her so much because I’m from KC!! hmmmmmmmm).

I bought this creamer to put in my coffee – cinnamon -it’s icky. I don’t like it. I guess I’ll pour the whole thing out…No coffee for me this morning I guess. I may have to grab a Diet Coke to get me going.

My hands have been so dry with this cold weather – especially when I come in from outside. I carry Bath and Body stuff with me wherever I go – in my purse, my school bag – it’s in practically every room of the house. No one can say I don’t smell pretty…

Well, yesterday we were back at work for In-Service – no students. I think I’m ready to go bright and early Wednesday morning. I really do like the feel of the first day of classes. There’s a good energy that goes along with it. New students, new classes, everything is just real fresh and promising. I do have lots of work reading to do though. I will probably have to kick back and read this afternoon. I have a meeting shortly – then lunch, so I guess it’s a day of afternoon working. Fine by me – plus, I just realized that I’m leaving early for a nail appointment. Yippie!

Tonight I need to clean and start packing for Mark. He is leaving for a conference on Thursday, so I need to get stuff ready for him. It shouldn’t take too long. But I am going to be EARLY tonight. It’s frigid outside, so it’s lovely to be under the covers with a purring kitty. Last night was such a busy and hectic night for us that we barely got a chance to sit down. Tonight I want to knit and relax a little bit before bed. Doing something relaxing before bed really helps me out.

Well, I should prepare for my meeting. I need to get stuff together.

The temperature dropped drastically overnight. Brrr! Well, today is our last day of vacation. We start in-service tomorrow. That means we have to get up early – it’ll be hard. We need to go to bed early too, but that is going to be difficult too. We’re used to staying up till all hours of the night. Things will have to change. I’m sure the kitty won’t like that fact that we’re gone again all day. I think she got used to having us lounge around with her.

I’m trying to finish up some last minute house-cleaning so I won’t be bombarded during my first week back. I also went shopping today so we’ve got food and everything we need to keep us content for awhile. Next I have to clean the kitchen. Then the bathrooms. I’m gonna do that all rather slowly with lots of breaks. Especially because the Packer game is on.

Ok, I’m gonna head back to the couch and root for my team!!!

I slept nice and late today. We don’t have much planned for today, basically just cleaning and we’ve got a movie we rented, but it’s not due for awhile. We’ve been on a movie kick here recently. We went to see “Cold Mountain” – I thought it was long. I usually don’t look at my watch during a movie, but I looked twice. I really like Renee Zellweger though. It was ok – I would wait till video. I’ve also been on a Woody Allen kick, so I’m grabbing a few of those each time we visit Blockbuster.

We went out for dinner last night with some gift certificates we got as a gift. That’s always a great gift for us – we love dining out. I do need to figure out dinner tonight – probably Boca burgers??? That’s my easy way out.

Ok, off to lounge around till I feel like cleaning.

As soon as New Years hit I was besieged with massive cramps. I was up for the next two hours in PAIN. I am feeling a little better, but I didn’t get much sleep. We had plans for today, but we’re gonna try and do everything tonight. I still need to take it easy.

Our New Years was uneventful, but fun. We rented “Pirates of the Caribbean” and “The Pianist” – we liked both of them. I sat and worked on knitting my scarf – I’m getting the hang of it!!! I’m so happy! I even dreamed of knitting – it’s taking over…

Today I think I’m gonna relax and medicate myself so we can go out tonight. We want to see “Cold Mountain” – guess that means I should take a nap…

We’ve been lazy this morning. It’s our last week off and I’m getting sad. I’ll be ready for school once it gets going, but right now I love basking in my days off.

We are celebrating new years with our normal tradition. We make a big ole pot of Chicken and Dumplings, we like this recipe a lot. Then we share a pot of coffee and ring in the new year with some sparkling fruit juice. Most people would think it’s boring, but we actually love it. We need to head to the grocery store today to pick up our ingredients.

We don’t know what we’re making for dinner, but we know we want to cook. Considering once school starts we find it’s more difficult to get a full meal on the table. Off to search our freezer to see what’s good.

I have finished the laundry from my guests and all I have left to do is put away the Christmas stuff. That shouldn’t take too long. The house always looks bare when we put that stuff away.

I can’t imagine how much next week will kick our butts. We’re used to staying up super late and sleeping in. Next week is work! Yikes! We’ll be draggin’ our butt for the first few days.

I need to figure something out for dinner. I may be eating alone, Mark doesn’t feel well. No symptoms, just tired and run-down. He needs to rest, but he fights it all the time. Stubborn. I may explore some recipes and see if there’s something I can do to get rid of the left-over ham

Company is gone. As soon as they left I crashed for a few hours. Emotionally and physically tired. It was good to nap. Things are kind of back to normal at our house now. I still have some cleaning to do, but not much. Our laptop is fixed!! I’m happy.

My craft update: I have read and re-read my books, I can’t decipher everything by just looking at the pictures. For my crocheting, I am randomly increasing and decreasing without knowing how I’m doing it. With knitting I am doing the same thing, plus coming up with big ole holes in the middle of stuff. I am practicing though. But I feel like I can’t go any further without someone actually “Showing” me what I’m doing wrong. Otherwise I just keep making the same mistakes over and over again. I have to stop bad habits before they start. I don’t think I know anyone that does either. Everyone I talk to says – “oh, my grandma used to do that” that doesn’t help me… I’m not getting frustrated yet because I still have hope that I can figure it out. I hope…

Our “Christmas” yesterday was awesome. I think the family was wondering how it would work out having it at my house, but it went great. No problems and lots of fun. We got some awesome gifts and had good food.

Today I’m not sure what we’re doing for entertainment, movie, shopping, something – we may just play board games, I don’t know. Tonight we’re going out for a night on the town. I’m looking forward to that, then they are leaving Sunday morninig. I will have lots of laundry to do once they leave. I’ve already put gifts away, so I’ve been keeping on top of things.

We still can’t get our laptop to work, so I am pretty frustrated. I love having it around, I’ve really gotten used to logging on where I want to. Maybe we can figure something out today.

We are sitting here waiting for my family to arrive. They’re due in about an hour or so. We have some last minute stuff to finish up in the kitchen, then we’re good to go. I hope all goes well while they’re here. It should.
