Today is the last day of our spring break. There’s something sad about that. But at least it kind of gives us a taste of what’s ahead. School is ALMOST out. We have off for Good Friday, then we are done May 7th! I think I can manage that. It’s like we can finally see the light at the end of this semester long tunnel.

I am finishing up laundry today. I still need to read the paper and do some last minute school work, but I’ve got all day for that. I think I’ll probably take a nap. I have been a reading fool by the way. I was up late last night reading, and got up today and already read for an hour. I like days like this…

Last night at about 7:30 I got a call from my brother saying they took my mom to the hospital. She has Addison’s Disease and any kind of illness affects her more than it would affect us. Well, she got the flu and had to call my brother before she lost consciousness. They were at the hospital until one a.m. They rehydrated her and kept giving her stuff for nausea and they had to keep upping her hydrocortisone. She doesn’t even remember going to the hospital or being at the hospital. She finally came to around midnight and they monitored her for an hour then released her. She’s totally fine now. But she will need to double up her meds till she’s totally better. I was wondering if I was going to have to make a trip up there – again. I was figuring out what to pack and trying to watch the weather channel to see if it was going to be stormy or not. So, by the time it was all over, I got to sleep at 2 a.m. I called her this morning and she’s doing fine. Thank goodness.

I think I need a nap…

It was a nice Friday. We slept in then went for a late breakfast. I worked on a cross-stitch project, then took a nap, read a little bit, and cleaned the kitchen. Then we had a quick little dinner, watched a movie, and now Mark has a friend over – so I’m just doing some stuff here and there. I do need to work on my quilting – I haven’t done anything with that today. Yesterday I worked really hard on it and got a lot accomplished.

Being home I’ve consumed more tea than I normally do. I kind of walk in the kitchen and think, “Hm – I think I’ll make some tea – just because I can.” I like to be the boss of me.

Actually, I’m a little hungry now, but I really don’t feel like fixing anything – so I guess I won’t eat. That was easy.

Ok, I need to do something productive. See ya!

PS – I spent some time adding blinkies to my sidebar – take a look!

Icky weather has been causing me to have sinus headaches and such. I know it’s all related to the barometric pressure, but still…It’s annoying. I am staying on top of them though and not letting them get me down.

So far this week we have gotten a lot done. Almost all my homework is done – I’m waiting till the weekend to finish it all up. Then I have a very good start on my quilting project, I should be able to crank out a lot in the next few days. I am reading also, but that is going slowly for some reason. I have decided to clean and listen to my book on disc at the same time. I hardly even know I’m cleaning – can’t beat that.

We are thinking of going to a movie tomorrow, but it’s supposed to thunderstorm a good part of the day tomorrow, and if it does, we’ll probably just stay home. This time of year really stresses me out – it doesn’ t help that people refer to our area as tornado alley. So far we’ve been lucky and haven’t had any major storms – let’s keep it like that. Plus – we don’t have a basement – hardly any of the homes around here do. URG – it’s frightening.

We are debating where to eat tonight – do we want to go out or just grab something? Then what? Maybe a movie? Who knows…. it’s nice and lazy today. I tried to take a nap, but my head wasn’t cooperating, so I may end up in bed early tonight. I have spent the day drinking tea – bliss!

Ahhh, I’m back from Spring Break. Friday I had a conference at a nearby college. It was fine. There were four presenters – they were all very good, but the third one was a little over the top. This was a conference for English teachers on the college level – and he kind of spoke to us like we were little kids. There were two of us from my college that drove up together. So, on the way back home we stopped off at a wonderful little quilt store. I loaded up on fat quarters and some quilting gadgets that I need for my upcoming project. Since I got back around 6 on Friday night, Mark and I decided to go out for pizza. But before that I opened up my swap box fromStella! It rocked! I’m still going through and playing with stuff. It was awesome and I really and truly loved everything in it.

Saturday morning we got up at 6 so we could get ready to travel to my Mom’s in Kansas City. We had a nice ride up, I got lots of knitting done, and the weather was excellent. Once we got there we had lunch at her house then headed out shopping and my tattoo! Here it is:

We found some bargains when shopping – clothes for Mark, books for Mark, shoes for Mark – hmmmm, I didn’t get a thing – what is up with that? I got a shirt and a pair of summer shoes, but that’s it. Mark was a shopping machine – which is highly unusual for him, so I let him go to town. Then we headed back to her house and napped. We met my brother and his wife at their new house – it’s a great house, I love the floor plan. Then we all headed out to dinner at the Red Star Tavern. Yummy! I had a nice Sam Adams beer and their Ahi Tuna with pickled ginger and wilted spinach over rice and it was all covered with a dark sweet soy sauce. Heaven! That was nice. We all loved our food actually. By that time it was getting late so we all parted and headed home.

Sunday morning we got up around 10 and went to see Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Ok, we LOVED it! My mother on the other hand didn’t like it very much at all. I tell you, it’s going to be one of those films that people either love or hate. It reminded me of Lost in Translation. Only because it’s kind of artsy and unconventional. Plus, the editing and the cinematagraphy is outta control! We also loved the lighting in “Eternal Sunshine” – we give it two thumbs way up -but we’re theatre people – we enjoy that kind of stuff…

The rest of the day on Sunday was devoted to napping and knitting. Mom’s new boyfriend came over to meet us and we all sat around and visited for awhile. Then we headed to a gospel concert – Mom’s boyfriend is into those. It was interesting considering Mark and I had never been to one of those things before – it was a little too Jesus-y for me – do you know what I mean? Anyway, after that we all had a late dinner at Applebee’s. We really like the new boyfriend – he’s very nice and easy to talk with – that’s a good thing.

This morning we got up around 9 and ended up having brunch at Perkins before heading out. We got on the road about noon and made it home by 3 without any trouble. During the ride home I was able to finish my knitting project!!Look!

See, and I put a little pocket in it:

I’m very proud of it because I made it all up myself – no pattern and it’s really the third thing I’ve ever made – what a big girl!

Once we got home I went through the mail and loved the kitty – then we both fell asleep for a little bit. I plan on spending the rest of the night doing nothing. Tomorrow however will be a different story – I need to start working on the house and go into work once to check mail and stuff.

Oh, I wanted to show you the card I embroidered:

It’s just plain cardstock and plain embroidery thread, then I lined the inside so you couldn’t see the back. This is the card I sent out with my swap box. I plan on making more like it.

Ok, I’m done writing for the night – I still have stuff to do online so I better close for now. Adios!!!

slept really crappy last night for some reason. I don’t feel that tired right now though. Check with me this afternoon – that may be a different story.

I have quilting class tonight. Then I’m at a conference all day Friday and then we leave for spring break to visit my mom for the weekend. So – it may be awhile before I post. Monday at least.

So have a great weekend! Hopefully I’ll get some knitting done on the ride up and will be able to share pix when I get back.

Spring break – off for a week! Yippie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’ve had my nightly tea and am ready for my shower. Lately I’ve been showering before bed because I am having a hell of time getting out of bed in the mornings. I could keep hitting snooze forever. So I am allowing myself a few more minutes without having to shower and blow dry my hair in the mornings. I think I’m getting antsy for school to be out.

I still have one load of laundry to fold – not sure if I’ll do it or not tonight. It’s not going anywhere. I am planning on spending the rest of night after I am squeaky clean, working on my knitting.

Oh, I packed tonight too – big victory for me. Took forever and I literally crammed stuff in – which is a little unusual for me, so I guess I’ll have to do some ironing at mom’s house. We are going to dinner a few times while we’re there, we’ll probably go see a movie, we need to do a little computer stuff shopping – Best Buy is probably in order, we need to check out the new Border’s by her house and I want to search for a yarn store or something – I need inspiration – But, the very first thing we’re doing – getting my tattoo! Yippie! Tattoo number 3. I’ve been waiting for this one. I was going to get it in the fall, but Mark was battling paralysis so I decided we had better things to do. But he’s healthy and I’m ready! I’m getting two little baby sized kitty paws on the top of my left foot under my pinky toe – OUCH! That’s a sensitive spot – but I’m ready. In my dreams I want 5 tattoos – two more to go, and a total of 7 piercings – one more to go. Then I will feel complete. It’s hard to explain, but they do something to me – give me energy, give me confidence – not just at that moment, but it stays with me. I really think people that are tattooed and pierced understand because it’s such an odd thing.

But, now it’s time to shower! A nice hot shower!!!

I have been furiously working the past hour getting caught up with little stuff on my desk. You know – all that little stuff can really pile up and turn into big stuff. But, most of it is done. I only have a few more things. That I can handle.

I am slowly dragging stuff home so I will have all my homework over spring break. I don’t want to bring it all home at once – too much. The books I chose this year are serious back breakers.

I didn’t get much packing done last night, so I need to get on that tonight. I am a little concerned about weather – I think it’ll be nice, but I’m gonna pack some stuff just in case…

Ok, I may log on later…

Today totally feels like a Monday, plus that darn time change isn’t helping matters. We had a pretty good weekend. Yesterday we went to the bookstore and goofed around. I always love doing that. Tonight we have a comedy show, so it’ll be a late night. Tomorrow perhaps I can sleep a little bit more. Kitty is totally confused too. She thinks it’s time to get up at 4 a.m.!!! No baby, go back to bed, we still have some time to sleep – but she didn’t understand. She kept bopping my in the head with her paw and then she tried licking my face – specifically my eyebrows. I started laughing. I couldn’t help it. I eventually got her snuggled in when the alarm went off – perfect timing, huh?

This is only a four day work week – thank goodness! I just counted and we have 23 more days of work till we’re off for summer. Not that I’m excited or anything…heehee.
