I’m am doing the Pinterest Challenge and you should too!

30 day knitting challenge – day 10

Day 10: Do you have a favorite pattern or designer?

I like Hannah Fettig, but I’ve never knit anything by her -lol

just another sunday

We woke up to see what the bunny brought at 7:30.  Not bad. Much later than normal years. She was excited.  We were tired. We went back to bed till 10 and then got up and all went out for breakfast.  Perfect day for us.

She and I started our first Project Life page today. She is super excited about it too. I was kind of afraid she wouldn’t care too much about it. But, she is very excited. She is filling out the journaling cards and she is taking pictures. I adore that. She and I run to the photo print machine with our handy little memory card and she can print off the pics herself.  We bought fun archival glitter pens. She is concerned about laying it out, using the stickers, writing and drawing pics. I am so happy. What a treasure for us. Even if we only do it for one year.  It’s still going to be a great joy for us.  I can’t wait to see how it goes. I’m sure there will be times that she isn’t thrilled about doing it – but I think those times will be few and far between.

I hope…

30 day knitting challenge – day 9

Day 9: What fiber or yarn do you love working with?

I like wool. Cotton and alpaca can be a bit stretchy for me.  I love sock yarns!

bags, bags, bags

I finally got my sewing machine back from its little tune-up. So, I put together a little tote for work. My other one is getting a bit beat-up. So, I went through some old scraps and came up with this:

Here’s a better pic of the cute little button I had:

Then, the wee one insisted she have a bag as well. So, I had this placemat I had purchased just for such an occassion. I had some handles that I quickly tacked on it. She is pleased:

30 day knitting challenge – day 8

Day 8: What’s your most challenging project?

The Andean Chullo hat was my most challenging to date.

30 day knitting challenge – day 7

Day 7: What is your least favorite item you’ve knit?

Probably this elephant hat I knit for her. It was an adorable pattern. However, I used 100% alpaca and there was just NO stretch to this.  So, it wasn’t very smart to use for a hat. It would practically need to be blocked every time someone wore it.

30 day knitting challenge – day 6

Day 6: What is your favorite piece that you’ve knit?

Right now, it’s the chullo hat. But, I also like the riding horse, alligator,  snake and hand puppets I made for my nephew.  I also like her felted recorder case, my chair, my kindle cover, my mom’s slippers, my Jared Flood blanket, my newsboy hat, my aliens, her DS case, my pink purse for her, Wacky’s orange fish scarf, and her matching dishcloth cotton hat and raggedy scarf.

So, maybe I have a few…

30 day knitting challenge – day 5

Day 5: How long did it take from the time your learned how to knit, to finish your first project?

Uhm, not too long.  A few days. Maybe a week or so. I was pretty excited. Remember, it was to be a scarf in garter stitch, but it turned out to be the size of a place mat.

30 day knitting challenge – day 4

Day 4: How did you learn how to knit?

My mom showed me how. Then I put it away for almost 6 years. Then, one christmas, I decided to try again. Without my mom around. I remembered nothing.  So, I got out the books and could barely make heads or tails of the whole thing. So, I grabbed a crochet book and tried to understand that. I couldn’t figure that out either. So, I got a knitting loom and did that for one scarf. By that time, I kind of understood the mechanics of the whole thing. So, I picked up knitting and tried again. After much failure, I finally got it! And, I’m hooked!
